I thought I had a busy social life pre-baby, having a baby increases it! Everyone wants to see the baby, so that means lots of running around town, trips to Sacramento & Monterey. Its fun, but too much and I actually get worn out. Sora is such a mellow baby, everyone is surprised by how quiet she can be.

Deaf Baby Hearing for the First Time

I found this video of a baby hearing for the first time after receiving ear implants. OMG, so heart warming...

two month mark

Sora is a perfect baby, she smiles, she coos, she's so adorable.

She sleeps 5-6 hours at night, I'm told I'm lucky. She hardly cries longer then 5 mintues cuz mamas' decoding her behavior.
Fussy grunting = wet diaper
Sad face + crying out = hold me
Head turned to a side + sucking face = feed me
Tantrum crying = burp me

She has baby acne and excema which seems to be going away.

She's started smiling and "talking" to us. When we repeat what she says back she gets excited, smiles and kicks. It's pretty adorable & rewarding.

I had no idea how much of a 24 hour job a baby is. Taking care of a baby is HARD WORK! Waking up for 5am feedings, getting sleepy by 8pm, finally crashing out by 10. Sometimes I have no idea what day of the week it is, or what the date it is. There is more laundry then ever before, cooking is pretty much never happening on my part.

It's hard to make time for myself even to take a shower or brush my teeth. James took me out on a date one night, he found a babysitter (so weird to say "babysitter") We watched 'Iron man2' and had dinner at Outback. I had a margerita on the rocks! I drank very slowly, I didn't know how tipsy I'd get, or worse, fall asleep. We had three hours to ourselves , and it was wonderful. I did start to worry if she was doing alright. We picked her up and she was good! No crying :)

As she is getting older (haha 2 months is 'old) its easing up. I'm getting the hang of every wimper and getting more rest :)

We changed our pediatrician too, our old one didn't allow us to ask questions, hurried through the exam and was quick to prescribe meds for acid reflux for our babys 'spit up' ( reading on the internet ALL babies spit up, sometimes its alot sometimes its not). Her accent was just way to heavy to understand and James hated her office staff.

Our new Dr (we didnt get to be seen by him because he is booked weeks in advance, but was seen by his nurse practitioner omg who was day and night compared to Miss Russia) was so incredibly friendly! Spent a lot of time asking questions, asked us if we had questions. We felt more comfortable right away. Oh and the people in the waiting room were even friendly and chatty lol. They were discussing their baby blogs too, haha, James thought I was the only one who wrote a blog :D

Sora was updated with 2 shots (I almost started crying) and the nurse put a glitter unicorn sticker on her immunization card. (lol)

Man, breastfeeding can be difficult. A woman's body endures quiet a bit of pain for motherhood. A baby is so demanding on her body. I'd say I'm about 86% recovered, certain parts are sore, my back is tired and overworked. I feel...'wide' I put on a button up shirt thinking it could hide my belly it did the opposite. Buttons held on for life! My bust was too big to get the buttons near each other.... I guess its tee shirts and sweats for a few more weeks *sigh*

Sora has been cute, to me when she cries it sounds like a baby lamb :) She sleeps about 4 hours thru the night, and wakes up around 4:30, which is around the time I would wake up during my pregnancy. She spits up after every feeding which is frustrating, and I don't like burping her (only because I am not good at it and I make her cry). Some times when shes done feeding she yawns in my face and her breath smells like milk! When shes up its the cutest! Her eyes dart around, she likes the pattern on our drapes and the lights overhead in our room. She sleeps perfectly while out in public. Does that last as they get older?

James is off his paternity leave, Im sad about that, it was really nice to have him around! It was almost like a vacation. Plus he cooked and we switched off taking care of the baby. His first day back was kinda hard on me. She wanted to eat what seemed like every hour, I barely slept, no naps and she cried a lot. It also rained and it was super cold, her crying stopped after I put layers on her, Steph came late in the afternoon and made lunch, but that was all I ate til. The second day was much better. I got a nap, kept her warmer and fuller, I had snacks here and there, no coffee *pout lip* cleaned up the room. James came home with a "you're doing a great job mom" card which made me feel a ton better. He's so sweet!

She has alot of baby acne and lots of hair, everyone that meets her has to comment on how much hair she has :) She's also getting heavier my wrists are sore from toting her around.

I tried doing sit up, my back is sore from the epidural shot... I may have a flabby tummy for a while..booo.... I'd like to wear my clothes again =/ I've started walking with her in the stroller, she sleeps the whole time :)

She is one month old today :)

Week one

We survived our first week! We had a few hard nights, but we managed. We had two doctor visits already, our pediatrician is named Sima Stein. I think she's Russian, she sounds like a vampire.

We learned she needs to be burped after every feeding, and I can't broccoli, beans, cows milk and cabbage. I didn't learn this in my breastfeeding class!! Cuz for lunch one day I had endless soup & salad at BJ's I had clam chowder (milk), minestrone soup (broccoli, cabbage, beans)......We got NO SLEEP. Poor James, I made him put together our bouncer at I don't know what time in the morning. I just remember him half away on the carpet with screwdrivers putting it all together while I fell asleep on the couch with Sora in my arms. The bouncer still didn't work. hehe!

Having a baby is a lot less difficult then I expected it to be, breastfeeding was really hard at first, but I was very determined to make it work...it's a lot easier and painless now. We've had some hilarious diaper moments. For some reason I thought when Sora was born, my belly would magically go back to its original size. nope. Looks like I'll still be wearing maternity clothes for while.....darnnnnn! When I left the hospital, I looked 7-8 months preg, today I look about 3-4 months. I can hang with that. We try to sneak in sleep as much as possible. We've had a manageable amount of visitors stop by. I'm grateful for all the help we have been receiving, I couldn't imagine doing this all alone and how difficult it must be for a single mom, so I am very appreciative. My disgusting rash has gone down significantly, I can't wear dresses or shorts yet, but I can tie my own shoes! and shave my legs! Going from sitting to standing is getting easier too ( I was really sore and my muscles were so weak I needed help) I don't have a lot of energy to do too much, but I took a walk up the block and back again.

James has been amazing again! Cooking my fav breakfast (french toast), supplying Mango-a-go-go's from Jamba Juice or decafe toffee nut lattes and dinner! Steph has been grocery shopping and cooking dinner too :)....leche has been staying out of the way. I think he's handing the new addition pretty well.
