last night we went to our first childbirthing class, its 2.5 hours long and meets every Tuesday at O'Conner hospital. Im also signed up for a infant care class (I've never changed a diaper) and a breastfeeding class. Our teacher is pretty nice, she said the last class had 40 people in it. This one is about half the size, yay small class. I like smaller classes.
We wore name tags, discussed and watched a video on the early signs of labor. Which was hilarious because there was a chola in the video, feathered out bangs, gold bling and maroon lipstick.
Found out why I have a pain only on my right side. She sometimes squishes my diapram. We were shown diagrams of how the baby squishes everything inside you, your intestines seem to get squished the most, and thats where my friend heartburn makes its start. Now I really have to eat slower and smaller amounts...and not drinking water while eating helps too.
There are so many body things that go on right before you give birth... to be honest I got alittle dizzy. For example, your body can have 'practice' contractions, or fluids will make its way out etc.... At least I know that now, I didn't before. I just have to keep in mind that these are all the possiblities that may happen, every pregnancy is different.
Our birthing class is the "lamaze" style, so we practiced our breathing, counting and focusing. When contractions start, they dont last very long, maybe 90 seconds at the max, but how often they happen in a hour is the kicker. We sat on the floor on my bright pink hello kitty blanket (haha) propped up some pillows and I laid against James. The teacher said we ( the pregro ladies) were supposed to be comfortable and it doesnt matter how the guys felt. I told James I liked her opinion. LOL. After a few breathing excersices the teacher told our partners to pinch the back of our arm as a 'fake' contraction to teach us how breathing helps us manage the pain. We did get to switch roles.
At the end of the class we laid down with our partner and we both concentrated together, the teacher talked very slowly, softly and zen meditation music played in the background....and then I heard a faint snore like sound. So I broke my meditation...I asked James if fhe was sleeping, no response. So then I nudged him in the stomach and told him he was snoring. I didn't care, I thought it was cute and funny.
I didnt think it was cute and funny when he woke me up last night. I was --><-- this close to actually getting a FULL nights rest. He woke me up because *I* was snoring and it sounded unhealthy. OMG I HAVE A BABY UNDER MY LUNGS. imjustsayin.
